Qualifications
- Must be enrolled in any one of these programs: Medicaid, SNAP, SECT 8, or SSI. Must provide the current year’s approval letter.
- If you are not enrolled in any program that’s listed above, you may qualify with income. Choose “Income requirements, 135% Federal Poverty Level.”
- You can provide your current year’s Income Tax return, 1099,or W-2.
- Seniors – If you are not required to file Income Tax, simply provide the current year’s Social Security “Benefit Letter” or prior year’s “1099”
- Must be a United States resident
- Must be 18 years or older to apply
- Must have current ID and Social Security card

*If you are already receiving the Lifeline benefit but are not with Truconnect, Lifeline will automatically transfer the service to Truconnect, you don’t have to do anything.
*But if you see “Welcome back to Truconnect” that means you are a current Truconnect customer in that case, please do the following
- If this appears when you apply, simply call 800-430-0443; tell the customer service representative your name and address (if you have an old phone number, please be sure to provide that as well).
- Your old account must be deleted/terminated before applying again.
Addresses
- PO Box is not allowed, you must use a physical address
- You must put “APT” in front of an apartment number
- Address used must match with the address on the ID. If you no longer live in that address on the ID, simply use the same address on the ID but select Mailing address and put your current address there
Documents
- All documents must be legible and in original form, no copies please.
- No expired ID will be accepted.
SUBMITTED FOR APPROVAL
*All applications are submitted to a NATIONAL VERIFIER for instant approval. Must be between 6a.m to 6p.m. Pacific Standard Time.
*Once the application is submitted, one of two things may happen
1. It is approved– all you have to do is type your initials in several places and press the CONTINUE button. You may receive an email to confirm your order. The phone will arrive in the mail within 2-3 weeks.
2. Additional documents required -When they need additional information or documents, usually it will be one or all of these: ID, Medicaid card (MediCal), Social Security Card and/or proof of income -W2, 1099, etc. Just submit the required documents and press the CONTINUE button when it appears.
*Once you submit the required documents it may take up to 10 minutes to be approved.
When approved, you may receive an email to confirm your order. You will be receiving your phone in the mail within 2-3 weeks.
